Text Box: The past year at the Mississippi Valley Library District (MVLD) has been active in trying to increase its services to its area by coming up with newer ideas and better services.
As the Collinsville Historical Museum moved to its new location at 406 West Main Street, the move to create a Media Center in the vacated room on the lower level took shape through a grant from the Dept. of Natural Resources with the help of Rep. Jay Hoffman. In the room a computer lab was created and a new space for the ever expanding Video and DVD collection. Along with that a collection of CD music was created that had not been in the library for over 10 years. The expansion allowed the other areas of the Adult book and audio book collection to expand as well.
Another continuing area of improvement is the virtual interface through our website at www.collinsvillelibrary.org that allows the public to find information through online pages and databases from their home computers. New resources are constantly being looked at and provided such as downloadable E-audio books from NetLibrary and Listen Illinois.
Text Box: As the Library Board and staff look to another year and in its continued efforts to bring the best Library Service to its members, we continue to investigate and analyze future options. This is why at the moment the Library is taking a few steps to reach out to you its constituents and find out your ideas for direction for the next few years.
We are asking you to fill out the Survey on pages 5-8 to assist us with the future planning and to develop a direction that is beneficial to you.

We also have decided to send out this newsletter and have follow up newsletters that will attempt to keep you informed of new developments.  There will be three forms in which you can receive these updates.  One will be to receive them in your email by sending your email address to cve@lcls.org; a second will be to get it online at our website; or the third will be to have it mailed to you.  To find out more about signing up for paper newsletters, see page 8 at the end of the Survey.

Pan Fountain

to have a second life

The Pan Fountain at the front doors of the Collinsville Library Center will be given a new life thanks to the interest of the Collinsville community.

A fundraising campaign has begun to refurbish the 1938 fountain.   With a goal to totally put a new foundation around Pan a hopeful committee of community volunteers will be working to make this dream come true.

Along with fundraisers, contributions are being collected by the Collinsville Library Foundation.  All donations are tax deductible.  If you would like to help, you can mail them or bring them to the Collinsville Library Center, 408 W. Main, Collinsville, IL 62234.
